Nissan’s first e-Power car has just arrived in Singapore and its the 7-seater Serena e-Power.
Drive is provided entirely by electric motors, but the electric motor is driven by a combination of batteries and a petrol-powered generator. The generator kicks in to charge the batteries whenever power in the batteries run low. It is never used to drive the wheels.
As a result, the Serena e-Power enjoys the efficiency and instantaneous power delivery of electric vehicles and the convenience of traditional cars with internal combustion engines. There’s no need to worry about charging the car or having to find charging points.
